School Residencies
In addition to performing concerts, Free Planet Radio has been offering residencies, workshops and master classes for schools and camps of all ages. For student musicians and non-musicians alike, this is a great opportunity to experience music and instruments from around the world, including our own American tradition of jazz.
The trio has string and wind arrangements of many of its compositions, so often a residency with music students will include rehearsals and a combined performance of student ensembles with Free Planet Radio.
Interactive programs can be tailored for the ages and skill level of the students.
Topics can include: -Introduction to World Music (an overview of "non-Western" music)-Introductions to Indian, Middle Eastern or Afro-Cuban Music (each of these is a more in-depth look at music of a particular part of the world)-Global Melodies for American Musicians-Hand Drumming Techniques from Around the World-Global Concepts for the Improvising Jazz Musician-Art of Ensemble Improvisation and more...
